Event overview

What is this event about?

1 in 32 kids receive child protection services as new statistics reveal abuse and neglect increases in Australia. Multiple inquiries have identified various factors contributing to the untimely responses of child protection services, resulting in failures. These factors encompass a high demand that overwhelms the front end of child protection services, families being deprived of adequate and timely interventions and an escalating number of children in need of care juxtaposed with a scarcity of suitable placements.

The 7th National Child Protection Forum will be an inclusive and impactful event, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to address child protection challenges in Australia through a focus on collaboration, preventing further harm toward First Nations children and young people and implementing prevention and intervention strategies. This forum aims to generate meaningful discussions, foster partnerships and inspire action to ensure the safety, well-being and positive development of all children and young people.

Attend this Forum and learn how to:

Empower children and young people to collaborate and deliver services

Support children and young people that have experienced trauma

Demonstrate the benefits of collective action in achieving clear positive outcomes for children

Improve the cultural competency within child protection bodies to better engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Develop a strategy to accelerate the implementation of existing commitments related to children

We are thrilled to announce that a part of the funds from this remarkable event were graciously donated to the Kirrawe Indigenous Corporation. Through the collective efforts of all involved, we were able to make a meaningful contribution towards their invaluable work. Kirawee's mission is to provide holistic services to those affected by past government policies of dislocation and separation - resulting in intergenerational trauma, loss of identity, spiritual unwellness and disconnect from Kin, culture and Country. We are humbled by the opportunity to support such a deserving organisation and extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated, as their involvement directly contributed to this significant donation.
